In Phase 1 of the HAPPEN trial, we will be exploring current practice and barriers to oral care, with nurses from across Australia, via a survey. We will also explore the concept of pneumonia prevention as it relates to oral care and what educational resources would be most useful to nurses who are undertaking oral care.
Following the survey, we will be undertaking focus groups to understand key themes in more detail. These will in turn help inform and plan the educational component of the clinical trial (Phase 1) starting in 2024.
